President Street Goes Green

The city recently painted the bike lanes on one of the scariest stretches of Baltimore roadway to a fluorescent green. It’s reminiscent of the green bike lanes that wind through Manhattan, except not as wide. The hope is that motorists will have a clear visual signal where they should drive.

Bike Maryland (formerly One Less Car) lobbied long and hard to get  legislation passed last session that mandated motorists give us a 3-foot berth when biking through town. That hasn’t really worked to change driving habits. This new measure of painting the bike lanes has yet to be proven in Baltimore. But I suppose I’m optimistic!
